Affiliate Marketing: Using Product Comparison Articles for Maximum Effect

There are many elements you need to handle correctly in order to be successful at affiliate marketing. One of these elements is article marketing — creating keyword-rich articles and publishing them on several websites across the internet to generate targeted web traffic to your affiliate marketing sites. Unfortunately, a good number of beginning affiliate marketers make the mistake of simply starting to create content articles without a plan or a strategy.

In today’s post I am going to tell you about one particular kind of article that you should have in your arsenal: Product Comparison Articles. Product Comparisons are a a proven type of article that will enhance the responsiveness of your website visitors.

Using Product Comparison Articles for Affiliate Marketing

In this type of article, you directly compare the affiliate product you are marketing against competing products, whether it is only one other leading product or a whole slew of them. After all, chances are that your reader is not assessing your product in a vacuum, but rather already knows about competing products and would be skeptical of any review that did not at least address the pros and cons relative to other choices.

One of the cardinal rules of copywriting is to focus on benefits rather than features. This is even more relevant if a competing product might have more or better features on paper. So, what are the types of benefits that people are looking for? It’s important to remember a short list of basic psychological triggers that motivate people to buy. Essentially, people are assessing whether a product or service will save them time or save them work (make things easier), save them money or make them money, or make them feel better about themselves(e.g. more hair, fewer pounds, fewer wrinkles). So, as you compare your product’s features to a competitor’s features, keep in mind what people are *really * looking for.

When you do the product comparison, it’s best to be relatively impartial. That is, be even-handed enough that the reader is assured that they are getting a balanced overview and that you are speaking from a perspective of authority and integrity, unlike many other “review” sites. However, I say “relative” because you can still choose the benefits you are comparing so as to make your own product edge out the competition.

Once you have done a fair amount of balanced product comparisons, not only will you be recognized as an authority in your chosen niche, but this authority will also help drive traffic naturally to all your affiliate marketing online assets.

What else could you say? Not everyone has got the exact same thoughts but it’s good to see a diverse range of ways of thinking about things, to put it crudely. Allows you to sit back and wonder about your personal habits and preconceived thoughts sometimes.
